  • GTECH DELIVERS $15,000 COMPUTER LAB TO LOCAL YOUTH

(Providence, Rhode Island) December 17, 2009 GTECH Corporation unveiled a new After School Advantage computer lab today at the Mt. Pleasant branch of the Providence Community Library in Providence, Rhode Island, during an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Mt. Pleasant Community Library is the second library branch to receive a GTECH After School Advantage computer lab under a recently-formed partnership between GTECH and the Providence Community Library. Todays event is also part of a nationwide program GTECH has implemented to serve at-risk youth in communities where the Company does business.

Representatives from GTECH were joined by Providence Mayor David Cicilline and City Councilman Michael Solomon, along with members of Providence Community Library and Mt. Pleasant Library in unveiling the new lab, which will enhance the educational resources available to local students.

GTECH is proud to support local youth through its ongoing partnership with the Providence Community Library, said GTECH Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Robert Vincent. With this lab, GTECH and the Mt. Pleasant Community Library have granted students access to a powerful combination of educational resources and the latest technology. I am excited to continue working with the Providence Community Library organization in an effort to ensure the well-being of students in communities throughout Providence.

The Mt. Pleasant Library received a $15,000 computer lab, which features eight Dell flat-panel computers, a digital printer, an array of educational software, and Internet access, accompanied by renovations to the room that included new desks, chairs, a printer cart, and wiring.

The work of great corporate partners like GTECH helps support the Citys mission of giving every child the resources they need to access greater opportunities and ensure growth and success, said Providence Mayor David Cicilline.
The Mt. Pleasant Library has been a center of exploration and learning for generations of neighborhood children and families, said Providence City Councilman Michael Solomon. The GTECH After School Advantage computer lab will help the library continue its legacy by providing new technology for young people to reach their goals.

In August of 2009, GTECHs After School Advantage program committed the necessary resources to install three unique computer labs in library branches throughout the city. Following the launch of the Wanskuck Community Library computer lab in October, and todays computer lab launch at the Mt. Pleasant Library branch, GTECH will open a third After School Advantage lab at the Providence Community Librarys Fox Point branch in the coming months.

I wish to express my sincere appreciation for GTECHs ongoing partnership with the Providence Community Library, said President of the Board of the Providence Community Library Marcus Mitchell. As the first major corporate sponsor, GTECH has provided this organization with essential resources that allow us to provide the best possible services to our young patrons. We hope others will follow GTECHs lead.
