  • From The Publisher

The Providence American begins its 24th year of publishing important news to the community of color of Rhode Island, and with the New Year brings a new look to our newspaper. We have changed the size, dimensions and look of the paper to better meet the needs of our advertising clients. We have not been able to accept certain advertisements like sheet/booklet size Ad campaigns or coupon sheet Ad campaigns. With the new size of the paper we will be able to accept more Ad sizes shapes and designs.

We have also decided to reduce our costs a bit by changing the newsprint inside the newspaper. For the last three years we have used the best news print for The Providence American newspaper; however, going forward we will only use the bright white paper on our Front Page wrap and our middle pages. This modification will reduce our printing costs substantially; and in these economic times a reduction in production expenses is very important. We hope that you will like the new look of The Providence American and invite our readers to let us know by e-mailing us your opinion. As always your feedback is the only way we can know if we are meeting the expectations that our readership has come to expect.

To our advertisers we will provide a new 2010 media kit upon request for your future use. Our open rate pricing has increased by less than 10% for 2010 and 5% for our State, City and Municipalitys and qualified Non-profits. We have tried to keep our rates as low as possible so that even the smallest advertising or marketing budget can still be effective when using The Providence American to reach out to the States communities of color. So The Providence American is still the very best way to accomplish your affirmative action and diversity outreach activities.

So, Happy New Year to all of our readers and clients, and enjoy the new years gifts and blessings.
